Cribbage Riso is a full game of cribbage for iPhone, played against a computer rival. You deal, throw two cards to the crib, cut, peg to 31, count your hand and race around the board to 121. The whole thing is printed in fluorescent pink, blue and yellow on paper, and it counts for you.
How a game plays
- Deal and throw. Choose which two of your six cards go to the crib. Whoever owns the crib counts it at the end of the hand.
- The play. Lay cards toward 31 on your side of the line. The game scores fifteens, pairs, runs, the go and 31 as they happen.
- The show. Each hand and the crib are laid out with the cut card, and every combination lights up in turn as it is counted.
- The board. One shared track with a front and back peg each. The back peg leapfrogs the front one a hole at a time, with a click and a tap for every point.
Rivals
Four opponents with different skill and personality. Tuppence, a house sparrow, plays on hunches and cheers for everyone. Vera, a fox, is careful. Captain Salt, a retired walrus, almost always makes the right throw. The Duchess, a barn owl, looks ahead through the play and is unlocked by beating Salt.
Watching it like a broadcast
A bar between the two score rings shows your chance of winning, worked out by playing the rest of the game out about 1,600 times. It only uses what you can see, so it never leaks the rival's hand. Big swings are called out, a VS card opens each match, and the end card marks the turning point of the game.
